About Project

Archives en ligne is a web development project which has as its objective the promotion of amateur archival images, in order to promote tourism and cultural exchanges between Upper Normandy and East Anglia.
The project has been carried out by Pôle Image Haute-Normandie, in partnership with Norwich Heart and the East Anglian Film Archive (University of East Anglia).
The archivesenligne website offers you a cultural resource that is rich in amateur archive images of our region, as well as from the other side of the Channel in East Anglia.
The project has been selected as part of the European cross-border cooperation program, INTERREG IV A France (Channel) – England, which is co-financed by the FEDER.

Working within the framework of development conventions and partnership agreements signed between the Region of Upper Normandy and the National Government (the Minister of Culture and the National Centre of Cinema and Animation) Pôle Image Haute-Normandie conducts a policy of support for the cinema, audio-visual and photography sectors.

Its unique structure, it’s development of innovative practices and national experimentations, as well as its openness to European projects, confers on the Pôle Image Haute-Normandie the role of a laboratory for the entirety of its activities. Managed by professionals, supported and encouraged by its public-sector partners, the association is a driving force for the development of skills, knowledge and qualifications in the cultural and educational fields.

Pôle Image Haute-Normandie’s Mémoire Audiovisuelle.
The clips of archival films come from Pôle Image Haute-Normandie’s Mémoire Audiovisuelle. They are part of 3000 films that have been deposited, documented, digitised and stocked by this department since 1980.

The Photo Department and the Education Sector
The excerpts of photographs and letters are part of 4000 negatives or prints that come from old collections that have been digitised and indexed by Pôle Image Haute-Normandie's Photo Department. The documentary series “André's War” which is composed from photographs and letters was produced with Pôle Image Haute-Normandie's Education sector.
